Bruno Pellegrini was the man who was accountable for the two touchdowns in the 1937 Sugar Bowl. Bruno was part of the “triple threat” backfield with Ray McCarthy that torched defenses from their ability to pass and run with accuracy and skill. Because of this, Pellegrini was rated one of the best players in the country by Sports/Football Illustrated in 1938. Pellegrini was known to be one of the most natural all-purpose left halfbacks there were in the late 1930’s. After his collegiate career, he coached the Broncos from 1945 to 1950.
