Duane Pillette was an outstanding pitcher for the Broncos. After four years on the mound for Santa Clara, Pillette graduated in 1944. Five years later he was drafted by the New York Yankees. He played eight years of MLB ball with three franchises: St. Louis Browns, Baltimore Orioles, and the Philadelphia Phillies. Pillette was inducted into the SCU Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
