Stein excelled as a Basketball and Baseball player with the Broncos. In basketball, Stein was recognized as a United Press All-Pacific Coast Basketball Team honorable mention and member of the All-Cow Palace Intercollegiate Basketball Team. On the baseball diamond, Stein was a standout pitcher for the Broncos and signed a professional contract with the Yankees after his college career. Stein also had a tremendous impact outside of sports, as he founded and served as president of the Napa High School Hall of Fame Foundation.
