Dave Mariani was an All-American forward for the Broncos in the 1940’s. Mariani led the team with his stellar shooting and his basketball IQ.  During his time at SCU, he was drafted and served in WWII. While there, he flew 35 missions over Italy and was awarded a distinguished flying cross and air medal. After SCU, he played for the YMI, and numerous recreational leagues and semi-pro basketball teams, including the Oakland Blue and Gold and Bittners.
