Nelson Briles led his 1963 baseball team in innings pitched (86.1), appearances (18), and strikeouts (99). As a sophomore, Briles dominated on the pitching mound during Santa Clara’s annual game against the Giants while allowing the Giants just one run. After graduation, Briles was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals and won two World Series during his 14-year MLB career.
