Axt was a star catcher for the Broncos, and was also phenomenal at bat. Axt played baseball for two years under Justin Fitzgerald’s. Freshman year, he also played Frosh Football for Pat Connolly. His sophomore year the Varsity Baseball team went 16-2, including 3 straight victories over Stanford. The same year he played Halfback for the Broncos. Axt was captain for the Baseball Team during his junior year season under the leadership of a new coach,“Marv” Owens. Senior year, Axt switched gears and tried his hand at coaching for Santa Clara’s Frosh. Football Team.
