Cathy Jamison, originally from Portland, was a member of the Santa Clara Swim Club. Her coach, George Haines, was known for producing olympic swimmers in the 1960’s and 70’s, and Jamison was no exception. She attended Santa Clara University from 1967 to 1971. During that time, at just the age of 18, she competed in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke event at the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games. She won 5th overall with a time of 2:48.4.
