Gary Hoffman was a four-year offensive tackle for the Broncos. He was known as a ferocious competitor and a tireless worker. As a sophomore, he became the first underclassman selected to be a team captain, an honor he held for three years. He was considered one of the best tackles in Bronco history and one of the main reasons the Broncos earned 24 victories during his career. As an upperclassman, he earned numerous honors and awards. Hoffman was recognized as a first-team Associated Press Little All-American, and earned First Team All-Western Football Conference honors. Hoffman was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 1984 and in 1987 began playing for the San Francisco 49ers.
