Eddie Joe Chavez played point guard alongside teammate Kurt Rambis in the 1970’s. Known for his passing ability, Chavez racked up an incredible number of assists as a Bronco. He holds the school career record for assists per game (5.95) and also ranks fifth in school history with 482 assists. He was a member of the NABC All-District and All-WCC Second Teams in the 1977-78 season. The Houston Rockets drafted Chavez in the 1978 NBA draft. He went on to play against the 1992 USA Dream Team as a member of the Panamanian national team. Chavez was inducted into the SCU Hall of Fame in 1990.
